Diese Rezension zu Hunting November von Adriana Mather ist meine persönliche, ehrliche Meinung zum Buch.Dieser Beitrag ist mal etwas anders als die bisherigen. Meine erste Rezension, die in zwei Sprachen verfasst ist.

Wie es mir gefallen hat / How i liked it
Lange habe ich mich auf den zweiten Band gefreut und nun endlich konnte ich ihn lesen. Wie schon den ersten Band habe ich auch „Hunting November“ gemeinsam mit @lesewuermchen (IG) gelesen. Und wir beide waren wieder Feuer und Flamme für November.

Über die Cover Gestaltung / About the cover
Das deutsche Cover fand ich etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, da das Gesicht darauf durch die Gestaltung so auseinander gezogen wird. Mittlerweile gefällt es mir aber sehr gut! Es ist im selben Stil gehalten, wie auch „Killing November“ und hebt sich besonders durch die Farbe „Lila“ hervor.
Das Englische Cover gefällt mir tatsächlich besser. Es fängt einfach die Stimmung des Buchs viel besser ein und bringt den Stil der Strategia super rüber. Ganz besonders gefällt mir hier der Kontrast zum Titel. Es sticht einfach hervor.
🇬🇧I found the German cover a bit hard to get used to, because the face on it is pulled apart by the design. But now I like it very much! It is in the same style as „Killing November“ and stands out especially because of the colour „purple“.
I actually like the English cover better. It simply captures the mood of the book much better and conveys the style of the Strategia very well. I especially like the contrast with the title. It simply stands out.
Über den Schreibstil / About the writing style
Der Schreibstil der Autorin hat mir auch im original sehr gut gefallen. Das Englisch war teilweise nicht so einfach für mich zu verstehen, doch das meiste konnte ich mir aus dem Kontext erschließen. Die Autorin schreibt einfach unheimlich spannend und fesselnd, aber vor allem lebendig, sodass man sich vorkommt, als wäre man im Kino.
🇬🇧I also liked the author’s writing style in the original. Some of the English was not so easy for me to understand, but I was able to understand most of it from the context. The author writes in an incredibly exciting and captivating way, but above all vividly, so that you feel as if you are in the cinema.
Über die Charaktere / About the characters
Ich habe sie alle geliebt, doch vertraut habe ich irgendwie niemandem. In diesem Buch war völlig unklar, wem man trauen konnte, da niemand mit offenen Karten spielte. Bis zum Schluss habe ich jedem einzelnen der Protagonisten (November ausgeschlossen) misstraut. Doch genau das fand ich auch so klasse.
November war eine wundervolle und unheimliche clevere Protagonistin, die man einfach gern haben musste. Teilweise kam sie mir etwas naiv vor, doch das lag vor allem daran, dass sie einfach menschlicher war, als die anderen, die wirklich als Strategia aufgewachsen sind. November sah man genau an, dass sie eine normale, fröhliche und sorgenlose Kindheit hatte. Dennoch war sie ebenso strategisch begabt wie die anderen, vielleicht sogar besser. Das hat mir unheimlich gut gefallen. Sie war komplex, faszinierend.
Ashai ist mir auch schnell ans Herz gewachsen und hat mir in diesem Band besonders gut gefallen. Er ist einfach ein charmeur. Dennoch muss ich ehrlich sagen, habe ich ihm nicht ganz vertraut. Aber er hat einfach ein reines Herz und ist November einfach verfallen.
Aarya und Ines waren ganz wundervolle Nebenfiguren, die das Buch umso spannender gemacht haben. Die ganze Zeit war ich mir unsicher, was die beiden im Schilde führten und warum sie November auf einmal halfen, doch gerade auf den letzten Seiten habe ich die beiden unheimlich geliebt.
Im Allgemeinen hat man im zweiten Band viele Charaktere noch einmal näher kennengelernt und auch noch einmal viel über November vergangenheit erfahren.
🇬🇧I loved them all, but somehow I didn’t trust anyone. In this book it was completely unclear who could be trusted, because no one played with their cards on the table. I distrusted every single one of the protagonists (November excluded) until the very end. But that’s exactly what I loved about it.
November was a wonderful and eerily clever protagonist who you just had to like. At times she seemed a bit naïve to me, but that was mainly because she was simply more human than the others, who really grew up as Strategia. You could tell by looking at November that she had a normal, happy and carefree childhood. Yet she was just as strategically gifted as the others, maybe even better. I liked that immensely. She was complex, fascinating.
Ashai also quickly grew on me and I particularly liked him in this volume. He is simply a charmer. Still, I have to be honest, I didn’t quite trust him. But he just has a pure heart and simply fell for November.
Aarya and Ines were wonderful secondary characters who made the book all the more exciting. All the time I was unsure what they were up to and why they suddenly helped November, but especially in the last pages I loved them both incredibly.
In general, you got to know many characters better in the second volume and also learned a lot more about November’s past.
Über die Handlung / About the storyline
Der Verlauf der Geschichte war einfach genial. Es war von Beginn an spannend und es gab keine Seite, auf der keine Action war. Der Countdown lief von der ersten Seite an und man spürte regelrecht, dass November die Zeit davon lief. Es war unglaublich zu lesen.
Ganz besonders gefallen haben mir die vielen Orte, ganz besonders London, wo die Story gespielt hat. November und Ash sind auf der Suche nach Novembers Vater durch Europa gereist. Schluss endlich kamen sie nach London, wo auch das Finale stattfand. Hier wurde es immer spannender und hier habe ich mir wieder richtig wohl gefühlt. Die Stadt ist einfach eine geniale Kulisse für Bücher.
Etwas schade fand ich, dass die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Ash und November nur am Rande stattfand. Ich hätte gerne noch so viel mehr über die beiden gelesen. Doch das macht das Buch nicht schlechter, nur eben anders. Der Fokus liegt hier eindeutig auf dem Leben der Strategia-Familien und dem Ungleichgewicht wegen Jag, dem Anführer der Löwen.
🇬🇧The course of the story was simply brilliant. It was exciting from the beginning and there was not a page without action. The countdown was on from the first page and you could really feel that November was running out of time. It was incredible to read.
I particularly enjoyed the many locations, where the story was set, especially London. November and Ash travelled through Europe looking for November’s father. Finally they arrived in London, where the finale took place. Here it got more and more exciting and here I felt really comfortable again. The city is simply a brilliant setting for books.
I found it a bit of a shame that the love story between Ash and November was only peripheral. I would have liked to read so much more about them. But that doesn’t make the book worse, just different. The focus here is clearly on the life of the Strategia families and the imbalance because of Jag, the leader of the lions.
Fazit / Conclusion
Eine klare Empfehlung! Ein geniales, komplexes und unheimlich spannendes Buch mit starkem Ende. Eine Geschichte, die ich nur zu gerne auf der Leinwand sehen würde.
